SSH Telnet
Learn about the Telnet protocol and its use.
Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange info between a web server and a client. Since the info exchanged by the two sides is encrypted, a third party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a favorite means of handling a web hosting account. The commands which can be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for example, the possibilities are limited since you won't have root access to the machine, so you may only create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, import and export databases, and so on. They are all actions which are performed within the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. Using a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the ability to set up server-side software or to restart the server or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, but if you don't use a UNIX-like OS, there are a variety of apps for other OSs, which you can employ to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
If you have a
cloud hosting account with us and you'd like to manage your content remotely via SSH, you can get SSH access to the account via your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package does not offer this feature by default, you can easily add it with a few mouse clicks via the Upgrades menu. Inside the SSH section of the Control Panel, you shall see the host, the port number and the username you should use when you connect to the account. You can also pick what password you would want to use, given that it doesn't have to be the same as the one for your account. We've prepared several Help articles in which you can find all the commands you will be able to use with a shared hosting plan, plus examples of how they're used. Moreover, if SSH access is permitted for your account, you will be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection via a standard client such as FileZilla, for example.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
All our
semi-dedicated server accounts provide you with the possibility to access and control them via SSH. If the package that you have picked incorporates this feature by default, you simply need to activate the SSH access function via the corresponding section of the Hepsia CP. If the feature is listed as an optional upgrade, you could quickly include it using the Add Services/Upgrades link within the Hepsia CP and it will be available within a minute. We have a number of help articles and video tutorials about the use of SSH commands to handle your account and an entire list of the commands which you can execute together with several examples to give you a better understanding of what you could do. If SSH is active, you'll also be able to establish an SFTP connection to the account and to upload information safely using any FTP app which supports the feature.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
The
VPS server packages that we offer come with SSH access by default, not as a paid upgrade or a feature which you need to enable. The minute your new server is ready, you'll be able to connect and start working on your content through the login details which you have entered throughout the order procedure. A copy of the SSH credentials will be sent to you via e mail as well. As your VPS will be isolated from the others on the physical server, there aren't any limitations regarding what you can or can't do via SSH. You may download, install and manage any piece of software that'll run on a Linux machine, reboot the entire server or simply a certain software component, and work with files, folders and databases without restrictions. All you will require for that is a console or an SSH client on your end.
