Password Protected Directories
Discover how to create a safe and user-only area in your site with password-protected directories.
A password-protected directory or area is a folder that can be accessed when a username and a password are provided, so no unauthorized people could view its content. This function can be used for the primary folder of a particular website or only for a certain subfolder based on your needs. As an example, when you are developing a new site and you don't want people to see it before it's completely ready, you may want to limit the access to it completely, whereas if you would like only some people to be able to access certain files, you may password-protect only a particular folder, while the other parts of the website can be seen by anybody. In either case, a “403 Forbidden” error page will appear if the login details the visitor inputs are not right. Even a direct link to a file shall not work as long as any folder above it is password-protected.

semi-dedicated server account with our company, you will be able to shield any content you have uploaded using our protection tool. Its interface is as basic and intuitive as that of the Hepsia Control Panel it's part of, so you'll not have to write any code at any time. The protection shall be enabled straightaway, so anyone who attempts to access the recently secured folder shall have to input the right login details. In case various individuals should be able to access exactly the same content, you can create a separate username for each.
